O’ the water, o’ the sky
Crown Chakra notes:
Binah, the ocean, the divine mother
Vast understanding
Poison ivy. Skin itching red spreading
Time for a healing
Try this, try that
I drive to the ocean
For a swim in the cold early June water
A few stroll the beach
Her first wave washes over my feet and ankles – wow
I feel cold rush thrilling embrace
No one in the water but me
After a few minutes I’m warm numb
Playing in the waves, turnin’ somersaults
Like a kid runnin’ barefoot
Birds in formation swoop in a rolling arc
A wave from the goddess
A salute
When I finally come out, I can’t see my towel or pack
Look up and down the beach and jog along the ocean
There’s a man in a beach chair.
Heading toward him, looking around
Sixty-sixth street, he says. Did you just swim across the ocean?
Feels like it, I laugh and remember
Parked on 67th
O the water o the sky
O the long sand beach
If in fact it really is “all one”
Then I’m part of all this beach-ocean bird-sky
We are That
For now my skin feels great
But I won’t get rid of this poison ivy
Until I get the lesson from this purification
Time to clean the body, practice Hatha Yoga
Some fasting, saunas, and light eating
Ten day cleanser, a good project
Give up owing, pay your way
No more debts. There’s the lesson
For extra credit also consider
Give up owning
Nothing’s yours then everything’s yours
