A Visualization

A Visualization

Ten years ago my 18-year-old daughter was visiting. “Dad,” she asked me, when we were standing in the kitchen, “Do you separate your cans and papers from your other trash?”

“O’ Honey, I replied smiling, “If I separate my trash what effect will that really have in China or in the Sahara desert? What difference will this make in the world?“

“Dad, you are the world,” she said. Thus I began recycling.

As you know, the Middle East at this time is rife with tragedy, suffering, cruelty and hatred. All the countries and peoples there are in desperate turmoil. Is there anything you and I can do to stop this hurt and heal these wounds?

Consider this. When you reach a clear and peaceful place in your meditations or prayers, for a minute or so remember Isaac and Ishmael, two brothers who loved each other, sons of Abraham, sons of Ivraheem. See this sweet and loving family in reunion at his feet right now: good food, songs, drums, dancing, harmony and play amongst all of us sons and daughters of Abraham. In such loving camaraderie, grievances can also be heard with compassion for one another. Creative adjustments may arise.

Let us each try out this visualization and see what happens. You might wonder, “What can I do?” You are the world and the Middle East is within you. Bring peace, love and harmony there with your prayers and powerful visualizations.     -- Prahaladan
